Vermont Mountaineers 6, Upper Valley Nighthawks 3

The Vermont Mountaineers (4-4) evened their record to .500 with a win over the Upper Valley Nighthawks (4-2) in White River Junction on Tuesday evening. Mountaineers relief pitcher Ryan Steckline (Monmouth University) took home the win (2.2 innings pitched, 3 hits, 0 runs, 0 walks, 4 strikeouts) and NIghthawks starting pitcher Alex Theis (Wright State University) suffered the loss at home (4.0 IP, 3 H, 4 R, 1 ER, 3 BB, 2 K).

Upper Valley got on the board first in the first inning by way of an RBI single from right fielder William Sullivan (Troy University) and then a proceeding error by Vermont’s center fielder Tommy Courtney (University of Pennsylvania) to bring in another run. Bristol Blues (1-7) vs. Newport Gulls (5-1)

The Newport Gulls (6-1) won their fourth straight game and handed the visiting Bristol Blues (1-8) their seventh straight loss in a hard-fought duel at Cardines Field on Monday night.
