Game 1: Ocean State Waves 8, Bristol Blues 7

The Ocean State Waves walked off versus the visiting Bristol Blues in a back-and-forth contest at Old Mountain Field on Thursday night. Waves starting pitcher Domenic Picone (University of Rhode Island) tossed three no-hit, scoreless innings of work while walking none and striking out six batters, and fellow starter Garrett Coe (University of Connecticut) threw over four innings of work for the Blues (4.1 IP, 9 H, 7 ER, 0 BB, 2 K).

Ocean State jumped out to a 2-0 lead through two innings of action with the help of a solo home run by left fielder Travis Honeyman (Boston College), his seventh home run of the summer. In the bottom of the fourth inning, Waves second baseman Alex Ramirez (University of Rhode Island) launched a two-run longball to make it a 4-0 ballgame before Bristol scored twice in the top of the fifth via an RBI double by designated hitter Anthony Galason (Elon University) and an RBI single from catcher Tyler Keith (Post University), cutting their deficit in half.

In the home half of the fifth, Ocean State scored three more times to extend their leave over the visiting team to 7-2 thanks to a pair of RBI singles and an RBI double by right fielder Griffin Merritt (University of Cincinnati). Bristol promptly tied the game at seven runs courtesy of an error, an RBI base hit, and a two-run double by Brennen Dorighi (Wofford College) to make it an entirely new ballgame through six innings. Waves second baseman Kyle Maves (Quinnipiac University) singled to bring home the walk-off run in the bottom of the ninth.
